The Grenadines offer you a succession of uncrowded kitesurfing spots only a few miles away from each other.

Intermediate and advanced kitesurfers have the perfect playground to choose from in the Grenadines: flat protected waters, reef waves and downwinds that are etched into your memory forever.

The wind blows day and night from November to July with an average of 15 to 25 knots. In the beginning of the season the wind direction is NE passing gradually to E as the season progresses.

Generally, the wind is stronger in the morning but it’s not unusual to have some weeks when it blows more then 25 knots, day and night.

No wetsuit required, bring sunglasses long sleeve rash guard if you are sensitive with the sun and a lot of strong sunscreens. Do not look at online weather apps as they do not depict an accurate weather value of the Grenadines.

We can kitesurf right outside our hotel or we can take the boat a few minutes away to the other side of the island, to the smooth Salt Whistle Bay.  This is the best all-around kitesurf spot in the Grenadines. It’s perfect for the intermediate kiter with side-on wind, reef and a sandy beach that allows kiters to play. If the anchorage is fairly empty, you can also go for an excellent flat water session in the bay.

We will explore different kitespots, flat water and waves these 14 days.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are composed of several islands. The main island is Saint Vincent. The Grenadines are a chain of 32 smaller islands, including Saint Vincent.

Full independence from Great Britain was achieved in 1979. Sailors and divers like to go to the beautiful beaches of the Grenadines, but tourism is less developed than in other countries in the Caribbean

Mayreau Island is a small island in the Grenadines archipelago of the southern Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean Sea of the Caribbean. The island belongs to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Mayreau Island is located about 65 km southwest of the main island of Saint Vincent, about 10 km northeast of the island of Union Island and about 10 km southwest of Canouan Island. The island has an area of about 3.8 km² with a length of about 2 km and is about 1 km wide.

The population is about 300 inhabitants.

The island can only be reached by boat as it lacks an airport, there are daily ferry connections with the neighboring islands of Union Island and Canouan Island.

About 2 miles off the east coast of Mayreau Island is the beautiful Tobago Cays.

English is the official language. Most Vincentians speak Vincentian Creole. English is used in education, government, religion, and other formal domains, while Creole (or ’dialect’ as it is referred to locally) is used in informal situations such as in the home and among friends.

The currency is Eastern Caribbean dollar (EC$)

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines got a new international airport a few years ago and in mid-October 2021 Virgin Atlantic will start flying directly from London, which makes the journey much easier and cheaper. You can also travel with British airways via London and Barbados or Condor via Frankfurt and Barbados.

If you travel with British Airways via Barbados, you will fly a smaller plane directly to Canouan Jetport, which is about 15 minutes from Mayreau by boat.
